Hedgehog Toys
Among the many things that your hedgehog will require in his home, toys are absolutely needed. One cannot view toys for their hedgehogs as extras. These are essential to his well being and happiness.
Wheel
The good news is that hedgehog toys do not have to be elaborate or expensive. In fact, the most expensive toy that you need to purchase for your hedgehog is his exercise wheel. Because he is a hedgehog, and not a hamster, he needs a rather large exercise wheel, and it should be made of solid materials, as opposed to wire, in order to avoid injury. Make sure that his wheel remains in good working order, as it is essential to his health.

Cat Balls
Your hedgehog will enjoy plastic cat balls that have bells inside. These can usually be purchased for about two dollars, and usually contain several balls in the package. The more brightly colored they are, the happier your hedgehog will be with them.
Plastic Toys
You should purchase brightly colored plastic Easter eggs, and fill them with treats. You can also use empty film canisters and old medicine bottles. You should provide your hedgehog with containers that he can open to retrieve the treat, as well as with containers that he cannot open, although they make wonderful noise, according to him.
Cardboard
Empty toilet paper and paper towel spools are ideal for hedgehogs, as are empty boxes of all sorts. Each time you cook, clean all of the trash and food out of the boxes that you use, and ask your hedgehog if he would care to add that box to his collection. The chances are good that he will happily add whatever you give him to his collection of toys.
Hidey Houses
Your hedgehog also needs places to hide. Many boxes will provide him with hiding places, but he will also appreciate a few pieces of cloth, as long as the edges of the cloth are not raveling and do not have loose threads. PVC pipe is always a winner with Hedgehogs. This is cheap, and can be cut into different lengths. It can be purchased in different diameters as well, and you can even create a series of tunnels for your hedgehog, using PVC pipe with PVC connectors. Just make sure that the edges of the pipe are sanded smooth, and that you don't use glue on the connections. You never know when you need to pull the tunnel apart to get the hedgehog out!
Hay Hideout
You can purchase hay hideouts for rabbits and guinea pigs and these work great for hedgehogs as well. they will use it for sleeping as wheel they can chew it.
Cork Reptile Bark
Cork tunnels and flat bark pieces work great for hedgehogs. You can find them in the reptile section at the pet store. Just place them around the age either on the ground for a different texture for him to walk on or make a ramp. They are not sharp on their feet and OK to ingest.
